Figure Skating

Figure Skating at Sungod Skating Club in Delta

Sungod Skating Club offers three different figure skating programs depending on ice skating experience level.

Level 1 - Academy

Our Academy program is an introduction to the sport of figure skating by invitation through assessment, audition, or upon recommendation of the Director of Operations. Children receive high-level coaching in a group format as they learn the founding stages of how to figure skate.

An additional objective to the program is to ensure the skaters are learning how to learn and train in the sport of figure skating so as to provide a pre-requisite for future involvement in the higher-level programs within the club.

This program is the first step on the ladder in our club’s talent identification process.

Level 2 - StarSkate

Our StarSkate program is the program that introduces skaters to the national test curriculum with Skate Canada. The program introduces participants to the basic figure skating elements they will use in tests and domestic/regional competitions.

This program lays the groundwork for further involvement in the sport of figure skating.

Level 3 - Competitive

Our Competitive program involves skaters who demonstrate the abilities and traits for potential high-end sports involvement. Upon completion of Star 5 in the StarSkate program, skaters can commence in the competitive pathway at the Pre-Juvenile level. They can then progress through the following competitive stages: Juvenile, Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior, and Senior where age is also a factor in their involvement at the various levels.

Skaters in the Competitive program will compete in the Provincial level championships and aspire to qualify for national and potentially international representation in the future.
