Registration Reminder-workshops/simulations

The first of the May club workshops is tomorrow Wednesday, May 1st (Star 5 & Above), registration closes for this workshop tonight at 8:00pm.  Please make sure you sign up in Uplifter to save your spot as they are filling up fast for the May workshops.

Registration is now open for the Simulations on Sunday, May 5th from 1:30-4:00pm at Tilbury Arena. The registration deadline for the May 5thSimulations is Thursday, May 2nd at midnight.

We will not be able to accept late registrations after the deadlines, so please make sure to register ASAP. Registration for simulations is listed in the “Workshop” season on Uplifter.

A few volunteers are needed for the Simulation and the Spring session, if you can volunteer please sign up in Uplifter.

WEDNESDAY 01ST MAY- Getting it Right with Doubles – Part I

Position, timing and body awareness in the air are all paramount to the success of the double and triple jumps. Drills, progressions and exercises to assist the skater with achieving these components of successful jumping will be addressed in the workshop.Part I will involve the edge jumps of axel, double salchow and double loop.

Standard: Star 5 & above

 

WEDNESDAY 08TH MAY- Sequences & Combinations

Achieving quality sequences and combination jumps assists a skater with maximizing their score in a competition. The development of sequences and combinations aid in the enhancement of a skaters core stability and reflexes. Various new sequences and combinations will be introduced to provide the skater with additional training tools for the future.

Standard: Star 1 – 4

 

WEDNESDAY 15TH MAY- Getting it Right with Doubles – Part II

Drills, progressions and exercises to assist the skater with achieving these components of successful jumping will be addressed in the workshop.Part II will involve the pick jumps of double toe-loop, double flip and double lutz.

WEDNESDAY 22ND MAY- Spectacular Spins

Speed, centering and aesthetics are the key components to making a spin spectacular in its’ execution. Edge pressure and blade control together with strength of positioning are areas that will be examined in this workshop. Ensuring a skater has mastered their full potential on all of the basic spin positions provides a better development towards the more difficult variations they will pursue at the higher levels.

WEDNESDAY 29TH MAY- Goal Setting for Summer 2019

Goal setting and planning for your summer training regime. How to set smart goals and strategize to achieve your optimal performance at the summer and autumn events. Skaters will participate in an on ice and off ice forum and receive valuable information towards setting themselves up for a successful summer training experience.

WEDNESDAY 05TH JUNE- Performance Class

Fun and interactive class where skaters will work on teams and develop a performance number that they create. Expression, musical interpretation, projection to your audience and the joy of performing are key elements of this workshop. Teams will present their creations to the coaches and parents at the end of the workshop.
